Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Beyer studied chemical engineering, majoring in process engineering, at the Technical University
of Karlsruhe (now the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Germany, and the Johns Hopkins University,
Baltimore, USA, focusing on both engineering and chemistry. After graduating with a diploma, he was
awarded a doctorate degree in chemical engineering by the Technical University of Karlsruhe for his
studies on high pressure phase equilibria in polymeric solutions. Dr. Beyer has studied both law for
patent attorneys and law focusing on European Intellectual Property Rights at the University of
Hagen, being awarded a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree.
Dr. Beyer has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2003. His areas of expertise
include the prosecution, defence, licensing and enforcement of inventions, particularly in the fields
of process and mechanical engineering, chemistry and chemical engineering, general mechanics,
physics and material sciences. He also focuses on opposition and nullity proceedings as well as
freedom to operate analyses.
